Lundy’s Lane Battlefield

Walking tour

The City of Niagara Falls Museums offer a self-guided walking tour of the Battle of Lundy’s Lane Battlefield, which includes Historic Drummondville. A Walking Tour brochure with a map can be picked up at the Niagara Falls History Museum at 5943 Sylvia Place, which is also a good starting point of the tour (approximately 1.7 km in distance). Follow the trail on the map to experience the American advance and the British defence on the Lundy’s Lane Battlefield.

The City of Niagara Falls thanks the Government of Canada for providing funding for the walking tour brochure. Support for the trails and battlefield interpretation was generously provided by TD.

Battle Ground Hotel Museum

The Battlefield is located just steps from the Battle Ground Hotel Museum, and the area features historical markers that provide information about the Battle and the neighbourhood's history. To get a sense of what tourism to the battlefield was like in the 1850s, visit us at the Battle Ground Hotel Museum. The Museum is open seasonally from Wednesday to Sunday.

Drummond Hill Cemetery

Location: 6110 Lundy's Lane. Take Buchner Place off Drummond Road. Lundy's Lane is on the north side of the cemetery.

The cemetery was the focal point of the battle, and the Battle of Lundy’s Lane Memorial is the most pronounced marker on the field.  The beautiful Copper Beech Tree is another feature of the property, along with memorials and gravestones of various Canadian and American soldiers who fought in the Battle of Lundy’s Lane.

The most famous individual buried in the cemetery is Laura Secord, whose exploits leading up to the Battle of Beaver Dams are known by most Canadians.

Burials in Drummond Hill Cemetery span from 1799 to the present, documenting the surrounding Village of Drummondville (named for the leader of the  British and Canadian forces at the Battle, General Sir Gordon Drummond).
