National Drowning Prevention Week

The Lifesaving Society designates the third week in July as National Drowning Prevention Week (NDPW) to focus the community and media on the drowning problem and prevention.

The next National Drowning Prevention Week will be held from July 19 to 25, 2026.

Come join us at the City of Niagara Falls pools for fun water safety activities.

Monday, July 20

Aquatics staff will be sharing hourly water-prevention trivia and fun facts during open swim from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Tuesday, July 21

FH Leslie Pool, 5250 Valley Way

Community Water Safety Event in the park with the Lifesaving Society from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Lifejacket Lending Program will be available with the City of Niagara Falls Library book mobile from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Wednesday, July 22

Niagara Falls Lions Park Pool, 4981 Drummond Road

Aquatics staff will be running mini-guard workshops at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm to focus on preparing and preventing incidents in all water areas.  Colouring sheets and Water Safety Games will be held during open swim time from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Thursday, July 23

MacBain Community Centre, 7150 Montrose Road

Join the Water Smart Contest to spread the Society's drowning prevention messages and help save lives by helping Buddy the Lifeguard Dog prepare for a safe day at the beach. Entries are available on the pool deck and at the recreation counter

Friday, July 24

Prince Charles Pool, 6320 Arad Street

Aquatics staff will host an obstacle course from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm and play Water Safety Jeopardy from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
